Abraham Lincoln was a great public speaker.  He had a high pitched voice, but still could be heard.  Audiences during his time listened better than in our times.  He used Bible quotes, Aesop Fable moral stories, and was able to be understood by all in the audience including illiterates and educated.  Use of scriptures helped to explain his thoughts and ideas.
